Hey GRLY, how do I keep track of a long supplement list?

Three bottles is easy. Eight gets messy. Here’s how to keep it all straight.

One list, one place

Not three notes apps and a photo of the shelf. One list, with every supplement on it, somewhere you’ll actually look.

What goes on it

For each supplement, note what it is, how much you take and how often. That’s also what the National Institutes of Health suggests keeping for your health care providers, along with any medicines you take.1

  • The name, as it’s written on the label.
  • How much you take each time.
  • How often, and what time of day.
  • When you started it, so you know how long it’s been part of your routine.

Sort it by your day

A list in the order you take things is easier to follow than an alphabetical one: the morning ones together, the evening ones together. It’s also easier to spot what’s missing.

Keep it current

Add a supplement the day you start it, and take it off the day you stop. A list from last spring can’t tell you what you’re taking now.

Bring it to appointments

Your doctor or pharmacist will often ask what you take, so it’s worth updating your list before each visit. Bringing the bottles along helps too, so they can check what’s inside.1

The short version: one list, in the order of your day, kept up to date and ready to show. That’s the whole system.
